Naturopathic medicine is a science-based tradition that promotes wellness by identifying the unique aspects of each patient and then employing non-toxic natural therapies to restore his or her physiological, psychological, and structural balance. Naturopathic physicians are often successful at treating chronic conditions that don't respond to conventional medicine. This includes, but is not limited to: fatigue, pain, sleep disturbance, and digestive disorders. They are able to respond to the individual needs of patients and develop a treatment plan that includes nutritional supplements, botanical medicine, and diet therapy. The applied aspects of Naturopathy includes mainly fasting and diet supported by treatments with natural elements such as Hydrotherapy, Chromotherapy, Mud Therapy, Massage Therapy, Electrotherapy, Acupuncture, Magnetotherapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise & Yoga.

Naturopathy, or Nature Cure, is underpinned by a fundamental principle – vis medicatrix naturae – the healing power of nature. This was made clear twenty-five centuries ago when Hippocrates said “Health is the expression of a harmonious balance between various components of man’s nature, the environment and ways of life – nature is the physician of disease”

According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, naturopathic medicine consists of therapeutic methods and elements to reveal individuals' capacity for self-healing, with an emphasis on prevention, treatment, and optimal health for all patients. It encompasses modern, traditional, scientific, and empirical methodologies. Naturopathic medicine incorporates traditional natural remedies – herbal remedies, nutrition, homeopathy, acupuncture and other practices, which are increasingly supported by results from clinical trials supported by NIH.
 
The principles of Naturopathy were first used by the Hippocratic School of Medicine in about 400 BC. The Greek philosopher Hippocrates believed in viewing the whole person in regards to finding a cause of disease, and using the laws of nature to induce cure. It was from this original school of thought that Naturopathy takes its principles.
